KCL Law hires new principal lawyer
Melbourne-based law firm KCL Law has added a new principal lawyer to its corporate team, bringing with him over 30 years of experience.
Marcus Best (pictured) has been named the new principal lawyer in KCL Law’s corporate advisory practice.
Throughout his lengthy career in the legal world, Best has gained noteworthy experience advising copious high-profile mergers and acquisitions, infrastructure matters, and acquisitions.
Some of his notable accomplishments include assisting Cheung Kong Holdings Limited in the successful takeover of Envestra Limited and advising 7-Eleven Stores in its acquisition of Mobil’s national network of retail service station sites.
With over 30 years of commercial and transactional experience, Best has held various titles at different firms. This includes being a corporate and M&A partner at MinterEllison, partner at Piper Alderman, and corporate adviser at Ellusa Advisory.
“I am excited to join the team at KCL Law,” he said.
“I look forward to leveraging my experience to provide strategic solutions for our clients and new opportunities for the firm.”
Principal lawyer and head of commercial and corporate at KCL Law Jeremy Goldman stated that the firm was “delighted to welcome Marcus to KCL Law” and “his wealth of experience and proven track record will further strengthen our corporate practice”.
KCL Law chief executive Davina Onas also commented on their recent hiring: “We are thrilled to have Marcus join us as KCL Law. His knowledge and experience will bring enormous value to our clients and equally enhanced learning and development opportunities for our junior lawyers.”
The news comes after KCL Law promoted Morgan Scholz to principal lawyer in the property team in July, the addition of Joel Benjamin as senior associate and Matilda Martinez as head of estate administration in their estate group throughout June, and the appointment of Davina Onas as their CEO at the end of January 2023.
