Estrin Saul Lawyers and Migration Specialists – the recipients of Australian Law Awards Boutique Law Firm of the Year in 2019 – has appointed Mitch Simons as a special counsel for its Adelaide operations.

The firm declared Mr Simmons will bring “a wealth of experience”, especially within “complex migration matters”, as he has practised immigration and migration law for over 11 years.

He graduated with a bachelor of law and a bachelor of behavioural science in 2011 at Flinders University.

Mr Simmons started his legal career as a solicitor/registered migration agent at McDonald Steed McGrath Lawyers, transitioned to principal solicitor/registered migration at Tern Visa and Migration Lawyers, then shifted to a management committee member for Refugee Advocacy Service of South Australia (RASSA), and was also a solicitor/accredited specialist for immigration law at MSM Legal.

He is one of only three accredited immigration law specialists in South Australia, the firm noted, adding that Mr Simmons is a member of the migration law committee of the Law Council of Australia and is “involved in recommending legislative change to the government at the highest level”.

The news followed the firm elevating Nicole Farrar to practice leader for corporate visas and promoting Alice Graziotti to special counsel for character and cancellations in late August 2023.

Estrin Saul partners Reuben Saul and Daniel Estrin commented: “We are thrilled to have Mitch join our team in Adelaide, which has grown exponentially in the last year and a half.

“The appointment of a special counsel is of significance for Estrin Saul, as it cements our commitment to excellence in the field but also creates more exciting opportunities for young lawyers to get involved in cutting-edge legal work in the field. We warmly welcome Mitch to the firm.”
