BlackBay Lawyers has appointed Greg Leather, founding partner of Barringer Leather Lawyers, and Justin Carroll, of Carroll & Associates, as its newest partners.

Mr Leather, BlackBay said in a statement, has more than three decades of experience in corporate and commercial law, including areas like complex litigation and international law, while Mr Carroll has practised in Australia, the Middle East and the UK and primarily concentrates on commercial litigation, public and professional liability, insurance coverage issues, defamation, and employment law.

Speaking about his new role, Mr Leather said: “I’m excited to join BlackBay Lawyers and be part of its dynamic growth. The firm’s innovative approach to litigation and commitment to excellence align perfectly with my ethos.”

Mr Caroll noted: “BlackBay is a young and dynamic firm with a no-nonsense approach to litigation. Its commitment to working with the commercial realities that clients face and to ensuring client outcomes align perfectly with my own approach to the practice of law.”

Elsewhere, Gosia Klus of Barringer Leather Lawyers is joining the firm as a special counsel, bringing an established background in commercial litigation, corporate insolvency and commercial transaction, the firm noted.

“I’m thrilled to bring my legal prowess to a dynamic team that shares my dedication to excellence and client success,” she said.

“Here’s to embracing challenges and fostering the growth of our clients and our firm.”

And finally, Julie Mehrdawi joins as an associate from BigLaw firm HWL Ebsworth, whose corporate law experience “further solidifies BlackBay Lawyers’ foothold in successful litigation”, the firm said.

BlackBay founder Victoria-Jane Otavski proclaimed: “Our recent team expansions signify a crucial juncture in our growth phase.”

“Greg, Justin, Gosia, and Julie each possess unique talents and proficiency that perfectly align with our vision, further progressing our journey in becoming the premier litigation firm in Australia.”
