Addisons appoints G+T lawyer as special counsel
Sydney-based firm Addisons has continued a year of senior growth in its corporate and M&A team, with the appointment of a lawyer from BigLaw firm Gilbert + Tobin as its newest special counsel.
Richard Francis (pictured) has joined Addisons, whom the firm described as an “experienced dealmaker”.
He is passionate, the firm added, about the Web3 and fintech sector and “has a strong track record” in transactions in this area.
The appointment marks the firm’s fourth senior appointment to its corporate and M&A ranks in 2023, following the hiring of partner David Stammers from Clayton Utz in October, the promotion of Geri du Plessis to partner in July, and the return of Robert Dooley from a top-tier Korean firm as a special counsel in May.
The firm also hired an intellectual property partner from Mills Oakley in August and added a partner and senior associate in restructuring and insolvency from Watson Mangioni in June.
Speaking about the appointment, Addisons managing partner Kieren Parker said: “Richard is an experienced corporate, M&A and capital markets lawyer with a superb transactional track record and established relationships in the Australian and international markets.
“We are delighted Richard has made the move to Addisons.”
