Addisons adds partner from Mills Oakley
Sydney-based law firm Addisons has appointed a partner from national player Mills Oakley for its intellectual property practice.
James Lawrence (pictured) has joined Addisons, having come across from Mills Oakley, where he has served as a partner for nearly seven years.
Mr Lawrence is, Addisons said in a statement, a “highly-regarded” expert specialising in the resolution of complex IP disputes, copyright, trademark, and patent litigation and brings extensive patent litigation expertise in life sciences, electronics, and high technology, with a strong track record in resolving complex IP disputes.
The news followed the firm’s promotion of a corporate lawyer to partner in mid-July, its hiring of a partner and senior associate in early June, and its appointment of a special counsel in late May.
Speaking about his appointment, Mr Lawrence said: “I am excited to be joining the IP team at Addisons which has an exceptional reputation forged over many years.
“I look forward to building on that reputation, not only across the IP landscape generally but in particular in the area of patent disputes.”
And the firm’s managing partner Kieren Parker added: “We are thrilled James has joined Addisons. James is an experienced IP litigator, with deep expertise advising on patents, copyright, trademark and trade secret disputes.
“James’ appointment as a partner will significantly strengthen our already impressive IP team.”
