According to the firm, the new office will allow PCL to establish a strong presence in the state and extend its reach further across the country. PCL Lawyers currently has seven offices in Victoria, including one in Melbourne, one in Sydney and now one in Brisbane.

To lead the Brisbane office, Jacob van Zyl (pictured) has been appointed as associate partner and brings a wealth of experience in dispute resolution, including commercial, building and construction, and franchise matters.

He also brings extensive expertise in commercial litigation and previously managed a practice with a team of 30 staff.

“I am very excited to join PCL Lawyers and bring their comprehensive legal services to Brisbane. I am looking forward to providing the same level of customer-centric advice and focus on commercial understanding that has distinguished PCL Lawyers in Melbourne and Sydney,” he said.

“I think I can make a difference with the help and support of a growing brand and modern focus on legal practice that PCL Lawyers provides to their clients.”

PCL Lawyers have grown consistently since being founded in 2012, and managing partner Glenn Duker said that the law firm now has adequate systems and resources to support the expansion into Queensland, having recently opened its office in Sydney this year as well.

“We offer personalised solutions to clients’ legal challenges, and we will continue to diligently focus on customer service and providing exceptional legal advice. We have had a successful start in Sydney and have been able to establish a client base quickly and look forward to the same challenge in Brisbane,” he said.

“Much of the success of the firm to date is due to continually looking to improve our systems, customer service and maintaining high-quality legal work. We have invested a lot of time and energy into operations of the business, and our team here in Melbourne are supportive of the expansion of our Brisbane and Sydney offices. We are now at a point where we can take our experience from growing the Melbourne office and confidently expand interstate without it being a strain on our practice.”
