Robinson Gill promotes practice leader to principal lawyer
Robinson Gill has promoted crime and advocacy practice group leader Ali Besiroglu to principal lawyer.
Known for his fierce commitment to social justice, Mr Besiroglu has acted in several high-profile criminal defence, police misconduct, and coronial inquest cases.
Mr Besiroglu is frequently at the forefront of law reform efforts with an eye fixed on accountability in the police brutality and coronial inquest space, Robinson Gill said in a statement.
His strategic litigation work is well publicised, and he continues to influence the direction of the courts to fight wrongdoing by those in positions of power, the firm said.
Jeremy King, principal at Robinson Gill, said that Mr Besiroglu has been instrumental in establishing the firm’s crime and advocacy practice group.
“Under his leadership, the team has gone from strength to strength, becoming widely recognised as experts in their field.
“The level of dedication he has shown to the vulnerable people of Victoria is humbling — we are incredibly proud of the impact he continues to have on our community,” said Mr King.
Accepting his promotion, Mr Besiroglu said: “It is a real honour to be welcomed into the Robinson Gill principal group.
“Over the past five years, our team has achieved fantastic legal outcomes in Victoria — and none of these would have been possible without the partnership’s unwavering support.
“As a principal lawyer, I intend to continue the fight for integrity and accountability in our justice system, and I’m excited to continue building on the Robinson Gill legacy, which is known for its excellence in service delivery.”
