Unafraid to take on powerful state defendants, he has become a voice for marginalised groups and victims of abuse within the police and prison system.

Mr Besiroglu is frequently at the forefront of law reform efforts with an eye fixed on accountability in the police brutality and coronial inquest space, Robinson Gill said in a statement. 

His strategic litigation work is well publicised, and he continues to influence the direction of the courts to fight wrongdoing by those in positions of power, the firm said.
