DMAW Lawyers adds Ivy League lawyer
South Australian commercial law firm DMAW Lawyers has welcomed the return of an Ivy League lawyer and appointed him to principal within the firm’s transactions group.
With more than a decade of experience in the areas of real estate, construction, infrastructure, and developments, new principal Peter Varacalli will bolster the firm’s property division with a focus on commercial, industrial, and renewable energy work.
He returned to South Australia following a senior role with global firm Herbert Smith Freehills in Melbourne and London.
Mr Varacalli completed a clerkship with DMAW Lawyers as an undergraduate in 2009. He stated that the calibre of DMAW Lawyers’ clients and the strength of the team had attracted him back to the firm.
“DMAW Lawyers is a trusted adviser to South Australia’s leading businesses and has a fantastic reputation for its quality legal services,” he said.
“Many of the lawyers who welcomed me during my summer clerkship more than a decade ago are still with the firm and it’s great to be working alongside them once again.
“I look forward to putting my experience into practice and helping to further grow the firm’s real estate, construction and infrastructure business.”
Principal at DMAW Lawyers, Daniel Jenkinson, said Mr Varacalli’s global perspective on local and national real estate activity would create significant value for the firm’s clients.
“We are pleased to welcome Peter back to our firm as a principal. He is a quality practitioner who adds to the calibre of our senior leadership team,” he said.
“Peter has a wealth of knowledge and practical experience having acted on large commercial real estate and infrastructure deals, including for some of the world’s leading private equity, investment management and energy companies, and some of Australia’s largest developers.
“He is well respected within the South Australian legal community and will offer invaluable counsel to our clients.”
