Amanda Little & Associates principal solicitor Amanda Little (pictured) has launched what she says is the first platform to provide lawyers and barristers with compulsory legal education, precedents and wellness support tailored to the practice of family law.

Ms Little — the chief executive of the network, who spoke earlier this year at a seminar hosted by legal practice management software Smokeball about the implications of the amalgamated Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia on the work of family law practitioners — said that family law is a niche area of practice that has “traditionally been neglected by legal education providers”.

“Unfortunately, this has meant that many lawyers and barristers have had to tread water while they practise, with their mental health paying the price,” she said.

“With state-of-the-art precedents, compulsory legal education and wellness support designed especially for those practising in the family law space, Family Law Education Network of Australia aims to change the narrative by providing professionals with what they need to succeed, and reducing any vicarious trauma that they suffer.”

Moreover, Ms Little went on, the platform will be made affordable for all law firms and shall be fully integrated with Smokeball.

“We understand that sole practitioners and boutique law firms struggle to pay for high quality legal precedents, compulsory legal education and wellness support”, she said.

“So, Family Law Education Network of Australia has set monthly fees at significantly reduced rates that meet every firm’s budget.”

Ms Little also spoke on The Boutique Lawyer Show in March of this year about how to build a successful family law firm, including what constitutes a recipe for success and the importance of utilising technology in achieving such success.
