The family law firm’s aim with the expansion is to support the growing community in Geelong as well as the surrounding Bellarine Peninsula in all areas concerning family and children law.

This expansion falls in line with the Nicholes Family Lawyers’ genuine community-based approach to their services and follows news of the firm opening a dedicated LGBTQIA+ practice group, which they discussed on The Lawyers Weekly Show back in November 2021. The firm plans on bringing that same service and support to the LGBTQIA+ community in Geelong.

Managing partner at the firm Sally Nicholes is broadly recognised as a pre-eminent Australian family lawyer. She said that it was a “lifelong dream” to open a branch in Geelong.

Ms Nicholes stated: “It means a lot to me to be able to service clients in their hometowns. It is both a privilege and an honour to have an offering in Geelong and we are very much looking forward to helping families and working with local businesses across the region.”

Ms Nicholes holds deep-rooted connections to the community through her advocacy and charity work across the Bellarine Peninsula. She is also a member of the senior patrol team and a longstanding member of the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club.

Partner Bec Dahl expressed her excitement about working with the community in Geelong.

“I am really looking forward to helping clients with all of their family law needs while at the same time contributing to local associations and advocating for LGBTIQA+ and other communities in the region. You will also see me at the footy, which is my other great passion,” Ms Dahl said.

The firm has conducted pro bono and advocacy work in Melbourne and plans to extend those services to Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula, focusing on families, family violence and youth matters.
