BOTH THE Sydney and Brisbane offices of Corrs Chambers Westgarth have welcomed a pair of lawyers, with two senior associates in the former and two senior overseas legal advisors in the latter.

Senior associates Jon Cane and Stephen Kelly are both new senior associates in Sydney. Cane comes from PwC Legal, where he was a director in its Sydney office. Before that time, he was a partner at London firm Berwin Leighton Paisner, where he worked for eight years.

Cane has 13 years’ experience in corporate and commercial work and specialises in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, flotations and secondary fundraising, as well as corporate advisory and restructuring work, including demergers.

A senior property lawyer, Kelly has more than 14 years’ experience in commercial property acquisitions and disposals, large-scale strata and community development, and retail and commercial leasing.

He has undertaken extensive advice and work for Stockland and other developers with respect to major residential and mixed-use developments in NSW.

Senior overseas legal advisor Ashley Davies joins Corrs from the Paris office of UK firm Lovells, having previously practised in London and Hong Kong with international US and UK firms.

Davies has over 10 years’ experience acting on significant cross-border syndicated and structured financings, bonding facility programs, property financings, project financings, equity and debt capital markets raisings and private equity transactions.

He has advised American, European and Australian financiers and borrowers under both English and New York law on a number of complex transactions, including an $8 billion secured master bonding guarantee program for the ALSTOM Group and a $4.5 billion syndicated multicurrency revolving credit facility for the Suez Group.

Fellow senior overseas legal advisor Katy Anderson previously worked for London firm, Nabarro, where she focussed on the niche area of secured asset-based lending, advising the UK asset-based lender, Burdale Financial Limited, a subsidiary of the Bank of Ireland.

She also brings experience in leveraged and acquisition finance and property and development finance, advising on the £1 billion property fund, Frogmore Real Estate Partners and undertaking a nine-month secondment within the European Commercial Real Estate Group at Deutsche Bank AG.
