LAW FIRM DLA Phillips Fox has announced the appointments of Kathleen Conlon and Margaret Gibson to its board of directors.
She maintains a personal consulting practice and her clients include the CEOs and directors of Australian industrial, FMCG and healthcare organisations. Conlon is the current vice-president of Chief Executive Women and a NSW Council member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She was awarded the Commonwealth Centenary Medal for services to business leadership in 2003.
Gibson has an extensive professional services career including over 30 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers where, as well as being a tax specialist, she held the roles of member of the board of partners, managing partner Sydney West, national executive director — industries, and leader of the technology group and government practice.
Gibson is on the boards of Australia Post Corporation, Power and Water Corporation and Airtrain Holdings Limited. She is also a member of the Australia New Zealand Advisory Board of Unisys Australia Limited, and councillor and treasurer of RSPCA Qld. She has been a recipient of the Commonwealth Centenary Medal for services to business leadership and finance editor and presenter on the Nine Network’s Today show for 10 years.
John Strahl, chairman of the board, said the appointments underscored a significant new phase in the firm’s development. “[Conlon] and [Gibson] bring valuable leadership, strategy and governance experience to our board at this time,” he said.
“It’s important that we are externally focused for the benefit of all our clients, whether they are local, national, or international. The diverse experience and insights of [Gibson] and [Conlon] are a valuable link to the business community and they bring a commercially savvy perspective to our decision making.”
