OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH and safety lawyer, Scarlet Reid, has joined Deacons as a special counsel from Baker & McKenzie.

According to the firm, her move to Deacons creates one of the largest dedicated national teams in this practice area. She is a specialist in occupational health and safety, with over 10 years’ experience, part of which was spent as a WorkCover prosecutor.

Deacons said that with OHS issues becoming more prevalent in the wake of the WorkChoices reforms, clients are increasingly recognising the value of specialist lawyers in this area.

Reid joined her new firm because it “is serious about occupational health and safety, with a keen focus and a strong client base in the area”. She considers Deacons to be “a leader in the national OHS market”.
