AN AMERICA’S Cup syndicate lawyer has returned to practise in New Zealand with Bell Gully.
Williams, a keen sailor, was involved in advising on diverse legal aspects of the BMW Oracle challenge including agreements and contracts, the tax and immigration aspects of locating the team in Spain, and America’s Cup rules compliance and disputes.
BMW Oracle described Williams as one of the key women of its campaign with her fingerprints “on just about every important piece of paper that our team’s business department deals with, and her quick mind and keen eye for detail are a help to every department”.
After working and living in Spain and being immersed in the Cup, Williams has returned to New Zealand joining Bell Gully’s corporate team.
She will be specialising in corporate law and securities, including advising on NZX listing rules, mergers and acquisitions and company law.
Williams was among other Bell Gully company at the America’s Cup with former partners Graham McKenzie and Hamish Ross holding roles on the America’s Cup Jury and as Alinghi general counsel respectively.
