DEACONS’ INSURANCE group has significantly expanded with the recent appointment of partner Tricia Hobson and a team of seven lawyers to its Sydney practice.

Hobson, who has over 17 years’ experience in the insurance area, was formerly a partner at Ebsworth and Ebsworth. Her practice encompasses both insurance and reinsurance with a focus on financial institutions, commercial directors and offices and professional indemnity and liability. She also has expertise in product development including drafting and reviewing policy wordings for Australian and UK underwriters.

Hobson also has considerable links to the UK market, having experience acting for both local and London-based clients. She is currently acting for over 20 London financial institution underwriters in a large piece of insurance litigation in Australia and a number of her team have completed secondments to major insurers in Australia and London.

Hobson is enthusiastic about the move. “The

resources on offer at Deacons will allow my team to easily and fully resource large-scale litigation,”she said.

The appointments bring the Deacons’ insurance group to 67 lawyers nationally.
