EMPLOYMENT LAW specialist Janice Nand has been appointed as a partner in the Sydney office of Moray & Agnew, where she will head up the firm’s employment law practice.

Coming from Sparke Helmore, Nand has considerable experience advising on discrimination, harassment, unfair and unlawful dismissal, breach of contract, disciplinary processes and on judicial review of tribunal decisions.

Prior to entering private practice, she held senior legal policy and management positions in the Australian public service for more than 11 years, including as the principal migration officer in London for the Department of Immigration, as a solicitor with the Australian Government Solicitor, and as a legal adviser and manager with the former Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.

Speaking of the appointment, Moray & Agnew’s chairman and national managing partner, Michael Pitt said: “[Nand’s] appointment further strengthens our workplace practice. She brings a wealth of experience having both worked as an in-house lawyer in government and in private practice,” he said.
