Cowell Clarke promotes 7, 1 to director
The commercial law firm has elevated seven of its employees to senior positions, including one to the role of director.

In announcing its 1 July promotions round, Cowell Clarke confirmed Symoane Mercurio has been promoted to the position of director.
In addition to her role at Cowell Clarke, Ms Mercurio also sits on the Board for Football South Australia and the Women’s World Cup legacy committee in South Australia.
The firm has also announced the elevation of five lawyers to special counsel roles.
The five have been listed as Amanda Brady, Andrew Bullock, Cassie Burfoot, Emma Peters and Peter Healey.
Ms Brady runs dispute resolution and construction matters regularly in the state and federal courts. She also specialises in liquor licensing matters.
Mr Bullock practises in construction, intellectual property and general litigation in the federal, supreme and district courts in South Australia, NSW and Western Australia.
Ms Burfoot advises on vast employment law issues. Further, she recently completed her graduate diploma in employment and labour relations law (first class honours).
Ms Peters’ primary focus is on governance and compliance pertaining to modern slavery, bribery and corruption and whistleblowing. She advises several large organisations in these areas.
Mr Healey represents clients in a broad range of employment issues and has undertaken numerous investigations with respect to workplace issues. In addition, he provides advice on employment disputes and litigation, WHS and workers compensation claims.
Meanwhile, Cowell Clarke has elevated Daniel Marateo to senior associate. He forms part of the firm’s tax and revenue team.
