Piper Alderman adds restructuring and insolvency partner
National law firm Piper Alderman has welcomed a new restructuring and insolvency partner.

Piper Alderman has hired Joel Shaw, whom the firm called an “experienced” commercial litigation, insolvency, and reconstruction lawyer. Mr Shaw is a member of the Australian Restructuring and Insolvency Turnaround Association.
His past includes working with some of Brisbane’s leading insolvency practitioners, accountants, company directors, government bodies, creditors, and other key stakeholders who have been involved in or impacted by a company’s voluntary administration, receivership or liquidation.
“Joel is a very talented insolvency lawyer and rounds out our offering in this space. We look forward to Joel becoming an integral member of both the national team and our Brisbane partnership” said Piper Alderman managing partner Tony Britten-Jones.
The firm’s national restructuring and insolvency team led by Michael Lhuede has experienced significant partner growth in the last three years, with the recruitment of Joanne Hardwick in 2018, Cheryl Weston in 2019, and the promotions of Angelina Kozary in 2019 and Jonathan Hidayat in 2020. Joel Shaw’s appointment now takes the team to eight partners across its four offices.
“Our national restructuring and insolvency team over the last three years has gone from strength to strength with a number of talented partners joining the firm,” Mr Britten-Jones said.
