Law firm hosts Mars One astronaut to celebrate women
An NSW-based law firm hosted over 200 guests to hear from inspiring Mars One astronaut candidate Dianne McGrath to talk about gender equality, community connections, food sustainability and maintaining food systems.
In addressing this year’s International Women’s Day, Dianne McGrath told an audience of 200 about the importance of challenging the status quo and the importance of continuing to do so “not only in space but in multiple industries”. The event was hosted by Coleman Greig that has raised $29,000 for charities through it in the past.
Speaking to the boundary that separates earth’s atmosphere from outer space, the Karman line, Coleman Greig said it can be compared to when “we choose to challenge the norms, push the boundaries and not limit ourselves”.
“Dianne spoke so passionately about her mother who learnt to ride a bike at the age of 70. She spoke on the importance of not pausing your journey or career because you’re at a certain age. She is a big believer in continuously moving forward and being adaptable,” the Coleman Greig statement read.
The 2021 Women in Business International Women’s Day Lunch event was hosted in support of OzHarvest, a leading Australian food rescue organisation. On the day, it raised $5,839 for the charity that will contribute to 12,000 meals.
