How to maximise your competitive edge and acquire CPD points at the same time
Lawyers Weekly’s Boutique Law Summit is fast approaching, providing attendees with their compulsory points prior to the 31 March deadline whilst offloading best business practices strategies.

The event, which is being held on 26 March, is available to attend in person or via a live stream.
“Realising this demand, Lawyers Weekly is delighted to open up this summit to a live-stream environment for those who aren’t able to attend in person. We’ve adapted to the online environment well, as demonstrated by our awards, and this summit will be no different.”
The one-day event features a stellar line-up of experienced speakers.
Kicking us off will be Dominic Thurbon, partner at Ernst & Young with a keynote on the future of law and legal services. Utilising his vast expertise, Mr Thurbon is set to leave attendees with a greater understanding of new and emerging trends; steps to staying on the front foot of disruption and how IT and the internet are changing the work of lawyers.
James Jarvis, vice-president, legal solutions at Thomson Reuters Asia & emerging markets, will then deliver an enlightening session, sharing how practitioners are taking advantage of working remotely. He’ll share new value opportunities, as well as how lawyers can embrace legal tech to work smarter from home.
Next up will be a three-person wellness panel featuring Classic Finance founder Nancy Youssef, Kate Cliff, founder of Kate Cliff Medication, and Clayton Utz’s Alexia Houston. The trio will help attendees build better management procedures, offer tips on how to develop strong connections and a valuable support network, and share why cultivating a great culture among the team is paramount.
Simone Herbert-Lowe, director of Law & Cyber, will then deliver a jam-packed session of cyber resilience for boutique practices. She’ll offer major insights on the human factors in cyber risk, email fraud and data breaches; ways in which professional duties can be impacted by changes in technology; and how a five-step approach that focuses on both prevention and mitigation strategies can help protect you, your business and your clients.
After lunch The Chaser’s own Julian Morrow will provide a fun and interactive session that’ll test attendees knowledge about legal ethics. Hosted like a game show, Mr Morrow will give attendees the ability to improve their knowledge and stay current on ethical and professional responsibility issues, as well as provide a platform for attendees to interact and network with peers as a way to share perspectives.
Our next session will see Rachel Scanlon, APAC lead of D2 Legal Technology, take attendees through the four P’s of performance: purpose, people, process and place. Ms Scalon will leave attendees with valuable information on how to find and retain the best talent; when the ideal time is to invest in team growth; and how to achieve favourable business results through team regulation.
Our second panel of the day features founder and principal at Resolution123 Carly Stebbing, Quantum Law Group principal Zile You and director and founder of Balance Family Law Perpetua Kish. Each will share their own story to the top and provide attendees with tips on how to strategically plan to ensure firm longevity. They’ll also share the key considerations for financial planning and pricings, and the importance of building your brand’s image to strengthen your appeal.
The day will wrap up with an innovation-geared session delivered by MC and keynote speaker Jame O'Loghlin. He’ll share the three things innovators do better than everyone else, and five things every business can do to build a workplace culture that encourages innovation.
Mr O'Loghlin will also ensure attendees walk away from the event understanding what mindset they need to adopt to be successful in a post-pandemic environment, and how to keep up and stay ahead of the game with strategies to navigate the ever-changing business landscape.
