CORRS CHAMBERS Westgarth has snapped up energy and resources guru Peter Jarosek from Blake Dawson.

Jarosek joins Corrs as partner and will be based in the firm’s Perth office. He specialises in the oil and gas, energy, mining and resources industries and has acted on a number of significant oil and gas projects in Australia, including the $12 billion Pluto LNG project, the Sunrise gas project in the Timor Seas, the Browse LNG project, the Pyrenees oil project and the Otway gas project.

Jarosek has been recognised as one of Australia’s leading energy and resources lawyers by the legal guide Chambers Global.

The firm has also scored a coup for its banking and finance practice, having appointed former Clifford Chance partner Robert Ritchie as a partner in its Sydney team.

Ritchie has more than 15 years experience in general banking, finance, project development, corporate and commercial, M&A, privatisation and restructuring. His finance expertise includes project finance, real estate finance, hybrid and leveraged financing, funds investment, securitisation and debt capital markets, and he has particular experience in the energy, mining & resources, oil and gas and infrastructure sectors.

At Clifford Chance he worked on a number of high-profile matters for international corporations and financial institutions.
