Heather Sandell will join Allen & Overy’s (A&O) Asia-Pacific litigation, restructuring and recovery groups and will bring with her over 15 years’ experience as a dispute resolution lawyer in Sydney, Adelaide and London where she honed her skills in formal corporate insolvencies, both in advisory and contentious capacities.

Ms Sandell’s experience includes advising on complex Corporations Act litigation before the Supreme Court of NSW, the Federal Court and the High Court as well as in more general commercial disputes. She has also worked extensively in facilitating court approval of schemes of arrangement to effect solvent mergers, takeovers and debt restructuring for public companies.

Partner Michael Shepherd from the firm’s Sydney litigation practice commented: “With wide-ranging experience in dispute resolution, insolvency and strong commercial acumen, Heather is an outstanding addition to our team at A&O.”

Partner David Walter mirrored this, adding that he is delighted to welcome Ms Sandell to the team: “Having worked with her in the past, I look forward to seeing Heather turn her exceptional skills to our group’s work assisting clients on complex restructuring and insolvency matters, as we help our clients navigate the challenges that lie beyond the COVID-19 era.”

Ms Sandell joins the firm from Baker McKenzie’s Sydney office.
