Boutique law firm Kalus Kenny Intelex has appointed a new partner to bolster the firm’s commercial law, IP and sports practice.
Natalie Lasek has been elevated to the partnership since joining the firm as an associate in 2016.
KKI partner, Sven Burchartz, said the appointment of Ms Lasek to its partner group was a pivotal development in the firm’s forward-looking outlook.
“This is an outstanding and welcome appointment and consolidates our deep commercial law experience, as well as reflecting great diversity at the [partner] level of our firm,” he said.
“Natalie has played a key role in KKI’s relationship with its clients, including those operating within rapidly emerging and global facing industries.
“These have included cryptocurrency, interactive and online sports betting across various jurisdictions and high-profile international sport sponsorship agreements.”
Ms Lasek’s commercial law expertise at KKI has been centred on advising private clients through major acquisitions, asset sales, corporate restructuring and governance activities in addition to competition, sponsorship, privacy and consumer law matters.
The firm said her work within Kalus Kenny Intelex’s commercial law team was recognised this year, in being a Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards finalist (Commercial Team of the Year).
“Natalie’s strategic approach to growing the services offered by KKI has seen our firm expand its intellectual property protection and licensing activity, whilst bringing real depth to our core [commercial law] offering for which KKI is synonymous,” Mr Burchartz added.
“We are excited for Natalie to bring her progressive style of leadership and fresh perspective to the partnership, which will no doubt serve as a significant driver of the firm’s continued growth.
“Her appointment follows our recent joining of the International Lawyers Network, which has a presence in almost 70 countries. Natalie will play an important role in the firm’s advocacy and activity within the network.”
Mr Burchartz said that with Ms Lasek’s promotion to partner, Kalus Kenny Intelex had all but reached a 50 per cent female partner ratio, placing the firm in a strong position for future growth.
Recently Kalus Kenny Intelex Lawyers has been welcomed into the prestigious International Lawyers Network (ILN) as the sole Australian firm in the network.
