Firm: Johnson Winter & Slattery (Carlton & United Breweries).

Deal: CUB has acquired the company which owns the Balter craft beer business and operates a brewery in Currumbin, Gold Coast.

Area: Corporate.

Value: Undisclosed.

Key players: The JWS team was led by partner Sophia Bobeff, who was supported by associates Will Mason, Claudia Scardigno and Rebecca Proudman. Partner Stewart Grieve advised on the tax elements of this transaction along with special counsels Julian Wan and Kathryn Bertram.

Deal significance: Ms Bobeff said the firm was proud to support CUB on another strategic transaction.

“Craft beers are continuing to grow in popularity in Australia. CUB has developed a ‘recipe for success’ by nurturing local craft beers and supporting their expansion through capital investment and access to an extensive distribution network that CUB can offer,” she said.

“We are proud to again support CUB on another significant transaction.”
