Brisbane Bullets bought by US private equity firm

Private equity investment firm Brisbane Basketball USA LLC has been advised on the purchase of Brisbane Bullets Pty Ltd.

Firm: DWF (Brisbane Basketball USA LLC); unknown (Brisbane Bullets Pty Ltd).

Deal: Brisbane Basketball USA LLC – which is backed by American sports executive and investor Jason Levien and retired NBA player Kevin Martin – has purchased NBL team Brisbane Bullets, marking the private equity investment firm’s first foray into the Australian market.

Area: M&A.

Value: Unknown.

Key players: The deal was managed by DWF supervising lawyer Mat Jessep.

Deal significance: Speaking about the deal, Mr Jessep said: “It’s an exciting time for the Bullets with the move to a new stadium, a strong roster of quality players, great coaching and now this partnership [with] Jason and Kevin.”

Mr Martin added: “Mat’s commitment and professionalism was first-rate. We look forward to continuing our relationship in the future.”
