Kean family advised on sale of ‘flagship’ BMW dealership
Marshalls+dent+wilmoth have advised the Keans, a notable family in Australia’s automotive industry, on the sale of its Adelaide BMW dealership.

Firm: marshalls+dent+wilmoth lawyers (Kean family)
Value: Undisclosed
Area: M&A
Key players: The marshalls+dent+wilmoth team was led by senior commercial and property partner Jeffrey Pinch, with assistance by senior associate Josh Kaplan.
Deal significance: According to a statement from the firm, the Adelaide BMW represented the last remaining major asset held by the late Vin Kean, “who was a legend of the automotive industry [and] who enjoyed a 61 year career in car retailing”.
It is also the sole BMW dealership in Adelaide, the firm said.
“We are delighted to have advised on this transaction and congratulate the Kean family on their magnificent contribution to the Australian automotive industry,” partner Jeffrey Pinch added.
“The sale of Adelaide BMW is further evidence of our firm’s expertise in advising on transactions in the automotive industry, and compliments our recent engagement in advising the sellers on the successful sale of Doncaster BMW and Ferrari Adelaide.”
