Maree Skinner will join the Maddocks partnership in early May as DibbsBarker closes its doors by the end of this month. She will work with the mid-tier employment, safety and people team based in Sydney.

Maddocks released a statement that said Ms Skinner had over 20 years’ experience in law, advising clients on the full range of employment issues. She has particular expertise in employment law matters arising from commercial transactions, restructurings and receiverships, the firm added.

Bruce Heddle, who leads the Maddocks employment, safety and people team in Sydney said that Ms Skinner would be an outstanding addition to the practice.

“I have worked alongside Maree at previous firms and I have seen first-hand the level of skill, service and care she brings to her client relationships,” Mr Heddle said.

“Maree has an outstanding reputation as a leading employment law practitioner and will be a great addition to what is already a well-respected team.

A University of Sydney graduate, Ms Skinner has worked for a range of leading local and international law firms including MinterEllison, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Clayton Utz.

This year she was recognised as a leading employment practitioner in Chambers Asia-Pacific 2018, with one client saying that she was “a brilliant negotiator”.

Commenting on Ms Skinner’s appointment, Maddocks CEO Michelle Dixon said it was a sign of the firm’s ongoing growth.

“One of the reasons for this growth has been the targeted recruitment of partners who bring with them technical excellence and a passion for delivering outstanding client service,” Ms Dixon said.

“Maree is a great fit for us on both accounts.”
