The firm has welcomed Dermott Lynch as a partner in its disputes team in Sydney.

Mr Lynch joins Gadens after 10 years spent operating his own legal practice in London, which specialised in commercial litigation, international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution.

Throughout his career, he has acted for a wide range of clients, ranging from private equity and public companies to hedge funds and financial services clients. His practice includes advising in relation to complex contentious domestic and international disputes, as well as portfolio litigation.

“Dermott is an exciting appointment for Gadens. He offers specific multiple jurisdiction and sector expertise, and is skilled in providing clients with legal solutions through conventional and innovative litigation processes and funding arrangements,” said Grant Scott-Hayward, CEO of Gadens.

“Dermott will play a key role in progressing our growth and development strategy in the Sydney market.

“Dermott’s expertise will complement our existing capabilities in commercial litigation, disputes and arbitration. His multijurisdictional and sector experience will further deepen our offerings to clients, contributing to the firm’s future growth. It gives us great pleasure to welcome Dermott to Gadens.”

Commenting on his decision to join Gadens, Dermott Lynch said: “I commenced my career at Gadens many years ago and, since then, the firm has continued to foster a culture that delivers strategic legal and commercial solutions to its clients”.

“Gadens’ disputes team is well-recognised in the Australian market and overseas, and joining the firm means we can continue to expand our offering to clients, providing them with the best possible outcomes,” he said.

The appointment of Mr Lynch comes after recent announcements that Brett Feltham (employment advisory), James Roland (banking and finance) and Kathy Merrick (disputes) have joined Gadens as partners in Sydney.

Last month, Gadens confirmed it had reinvigorated its Sydney presence by unveiling new offices after its sister business’ merger with a global mega-firm.
