Aus firm’s biggest ever annual promotions
A national firm has announced that 28 lawyers will step up into new roles in the yearly round of major promotions.

Mills Oakley has announced that four new partners will join its national partnership on 1 July. Pablo Fernandez, Nicola Johnson, Kym Kerr and Matt Sonter have been named as the new group of partners for the firm.
Together, the announcements make the biggest annual round of promotions at the firm.
Mills Oakley CEO John Nerurker congratulated the staff on their new roles, adding that they were the right team to meet the business challenges of the firm.
“The legal profession demands a lot of those who practise – not just an excellent knowledge of the law but sophisticated client engagement skills and a capacity to manage multiple work streams. Our newly promoted partners, special counsel, senior associates and associates have demonstrated they can meet these challenges and more,” Mr Nerurker said.
All promotions will take effect from the start of the financial year.
“A promotion is a very important milestone in anyone’s career, so we are delighted to acknowledge that milestone today for the 28 people named in Mills Oakley’s 2017 list of legal promotions,” Mr Nerurker said.
Mills Oakley also used the opportunity to celebrate the recent win of partner Dr Teresa Nicoletti at the Lawyers Weekly 2017 Partner of the Year Awards.
Dr Nicoletti was named Health Partner of the Year at an awards ceremony in Sydney last week.
“Teresa’s back-to-back wins [recognise] her continuing focus on exceptional client service and legal excellence, and the valuable role she plays in facilitating access to important medicines and healthcare,” Mr Nerurker said.
