A global law firm has poached a rival’s head of intellectual property, as well as two of her team members.
Bird & Bird announced earlier this week that it has recruited Lynne Lewis as a partner in its Sydney IP practice. Ms Lewis was formerly a partner and head of the IP group at MinterEllison, having been with the firm since 2008.
She has particular expertise in life sciences, providing litigation and commercial advice to clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical devices industries.
Bird & Bird head of IP Asia-Pacific Matthew Laight said Ms Lewis’ experience will complement the life sciences focus of the firm’s Sydney IP practice.
“I’m excited to welcome Lynne as a member of both our Asia-Pacific and international IP practices,” said Mr Laight.
“Lynne’s extensive experience in intellectual property law across multiple sectors will complement Bird & Bird’s wider APAC IP team. She has advised on significant cases for high-profile clients. We very much look forward to working with her.”
Bird & Bird has also recruited associates Ashleigh Fehrenbach and Rochelle Schuenker, who previously worked in MinterEllison’s IP team. The two will join Ms Lewis shortly.
Bird & Bird said in a statement that the appointments are part of a push to grow its IP practice in the Asia-Pacific region.
