The firm has welcomed Joseph Scarcella to its partnership, who joins from Ashurst where he has been a member of their insolvency and disputes practice for the past 20 years.

Mr Scarcella specialises in all aspects of insolvency administrations, insolvency related litigation, and restructuring techniques.

Throughout his career, Mr Scarcella has advised a broad range of clients, from domestic and international insolvency practitioners, to ASX-listed corporations, investment banks and litigation funders.

JWS managing partner Peter Slattery welcomed Mr Scarcella to the firm, noting that he was pleased with the deep expertise and knowledge that Mr Scarcella will bring to the firm.

“The appointment of Joseph builds on our existing insolvency and restructuring capabilities and broadens the range of our relationships with insolvency practitioners in Sydney,” Mr Slattery said.

JWS head of finance and restructuring David Proudman echoed Mr Slattery’s comments, adding that the team is excited to have Mr Scarcella on board.

“There are terrific synergies between JWS’ existing client offering and the skills and contacts that Joseph will bring to bear,” he said.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Scarcella said: “I am very excited to join such a high calibre and collaborative firm”.

“JWS is the perfect fit for my practice and clients; its combination of top tier expertise and the absence of the usual conflicts found in other full service firms puts JWS in a unique position to deliver superior outcomes to its clients,” he said.

“My team and I look forward to enhancing the insolvency and disputes offering at JWS.”
