New managing partner for global firm

A global firm has appointed a new managing partner of its Australian practice.

Baker McKenzie announced yesterday that it has appointed Sydney-based Anthony Foley (pictured) to the position. Mr Foley will replace Chris Freeland on 1 April 2017, when Mr Freeland will become managing director of the firm for the Asia-Pacific region.

Mr Foley currently leads Bakers’ technology, communications and commercial practice in Australia. He has been with the firm for nearly 30 years and has worked as lead client relationship partner for some of its largest clients.

“Anthony comes to the managing partner role with leadership experience, enormous passion for delivering the best client outcomes and a commitment to providing the best possible working environment for our people. He is without doubt the right person to take our firm forward,” said Bakers’ Australian chairman Chris Saxon.

Mr Foley added, “It is a great honour to lead the Australian offices of the premier global law firm. I have big shoes to fill and along with my fellow partners acknowledge the incredible legacy Chris has worked so tirelessly to achieve over the past six years.”
