K&L Gates has announced that John Mann has returned to the firm as a partner in its Melbourne office.

Mr Mann’s new role will see him join the firm’s corporate and transactional team, bringing with him more than 25 years’ experience advising on corporate M&A matters.

Mr Mann kicked off his legal career in 1988 at Middletons – which combined with K&L Gates in January 2013 – where he was promoted to partner in 1995, before leaving the firm for Clarendon Lawyers in May 2015.

Throughout his career, Mr Mann has specialised in negotiated and unregulated mergers and acquisitions, private equity matters, joint ventures, corporate structures, restructures, regulatory issues, contracts and business law advice.

“I’m excited to re-join my colleagues at K&L Gates,” said Mr Mann.

“Having started with the firm in 1988, there is a great sense of returning home. I look forward to delivering to my clients the full resources of a globally integrated platform, particularly as we continue to service an increasing volume of cross-border transactions.”

K&L Gates managing partner Nick Nichola welcomed Mr Mann back to the firm, saying he is a valuable member of its global team.

“Over the course of 25 years, John made a substantial contribution to the firm, and we are absolutely delighted that he is returning,” he said.

“His energy and his passion for his work, his clients and his colleagues will be a great asset to the firm.

“John’s appointment further strengthens our corporate and transactional team, which also has recently added Sydney partners Nick Humphrey, Dan Atkin and Hal Lloyd, and Brisbane partners Philip Vickery and Jeremy Prentice.”
