National firm names two new hires

An Australian mid-tier firm has announced the appointments of a new senior associate and special counsel.

TressCox Lawyers has welcomed Vanessa James-McPhee to its national employment, IR and workplace safety team in Brisbane.

Ms James-McPhee joins TressCox Lawyers with extensive employment law experience, having worked with the National Retailers’ Association for 10 years and for three years with specialist employment law firm, Latitude Lawyers.

Throughout her career, Ms James-McPhee has advised a range of clients, including multi-national corporations, business owners of small-to-medium enterprises from various jurisdictions on all areas of HR, employment law and workplace relations.

“Vanessa’s extensive experience in advising across a diverse range of employment-related matters along with her enjoyment for finding and implementing creative and practical solutions is an excellent fit for our Brisbane and national-based clients and we are very pleased she has joined us,” said Scott Chapman, executive chairman of TressCox Lawyers.

TressCox Lawyers has also announced the appointment of Sandy Lai who joins the firm as special counsel.

Ms Lai will take to the firm’s national and international law and corporate advisory teams, based in Melbourne.

Bringing with her over 20 years’ experience, Ms Lai has advised on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including private and public acquisitions, joint ventures, capital raisings, public takeovers, corporate restructuring, foreign investment in Australia and other corporate advisory matters.

Ms Lai has serviced a range of local and overseas clients, including Canadian and Hong Kong companies, Chinese state-owned enterprises, private companies and high net worth individual investors located in and out of Australia.

“Sandy’s appointment has added significantly to the firm’s expanding international law and corporate advisory teams and increases the breath of expertise in these areas,” Mr Chapman said.
