International appoints Perth SC

An international law firm has welcomed a new special counsel to its labour, employment and workplace safety team in Perth.

Miriam Power (pictured) has joined K&L Gates, bringing to the special counsel role more than 15 years’ experience representing and advising organisations in general commercial litigation, employment, industrial relations and safety.

Throughout her career Ms Power has delivered tailored workplace training solutions, conducted workplace inquiries and assisted clients to manage performance and conduct.

She has also managed organisational change, including coordinating effective communication strategies for redundancies, and helped employers to implement fair and compliant termination of employment processes.

Ms Power joins K&L Gates from King & Wood Mallesons, where she was also special counsel. Prior to this she operated her own legal consultancy firm, Miriam Power Pty Ltd.

She has also held the role of special counsel at Ashurst and has undertaken a secondment as the employee relations manager for BHP Billiton Iron Ore.

Emma Musgrave (née Ryan) is the managing editor, professional services at Momentum Media.

Emma has worked for Momentum Media since 2015, including five years spent as the editor of the company's legal brand - Lawyers Weekly. Throughout her time at Momentum, she has been responsible for breaking some of the biggest stories in corporate Australia. In addition, she has produced exclusive multimedia and event content related to the company's respective brands and audiences. 

Prior to joining Momentum Media, Emma worked in breakfast radio, delivering news to the Central West region of NSW, before taking on a radio journalist role at Southern Cross Austereo, based in Townsville, North Queensland.

She holds a Bachelor of Communications (Journalism) degree from Charles Sturt University.
