The firm has appointed Mark Payne (pictured), who brings to the role substantial experience in the provision of strategic and solution-based tax advice.

Mr Payne’s extensive client base includes domestic and multinational businesses and private groups across a variety of industries.

Mr Payne joins Corrs Chambers Westgarth from HWL Ebsworth, where he was a partner. Prior to this, he was an executive director at the former Goldman Sachs JBWere.

Corrs partner and CEO John Denton AO congratulated Mr Payne on his new role, saying he was delighted to welcome him to the partnership.

“Mark is well known in the market for providing strategic and first-class legal advice, and he is a great addition to the team,” Mr Denton said.

“His appointment will help us to further strengthen our offering in the Sydney market, where we will continue to target premium domestic and inbound investment workflows.”

Earlier this year, Corrs Chambers Westgarth announced the appointment of a disputes partner.

Simon Johnson left Norton Rose Fulbright to join Corrs’ litigation and dispute resolution practice in Sydney.

“Simon will be a key member of Corrs’ national litigation and dispute resolution group and will add depth to the outstanding and highly respected team,” Mr Denton said at the time.

“His focus on the technology and financial services sectors will complement the work the group is undertaking.”
