Valentina Jovanoska and Jae Kang have been recruited by the Nexus Law Group as its newest consulting principals.

Ms Jovanoska left her in-house role at UTS, where she worked on a $1.2 billion campus master plan for the university. The construction and projects lawyer has experience in private practice, commercial and government advisory roles, and has previously worked for King & Wood Mallesons and DLA Piper.

Speaking of her new role, Ms Jovanoska said she looked forward to the opportunity to collaborate with a “highly skilled team”.

“[Joining] Nexus allows me to collaborate with a talented group of senior lawyers, similar to myself, as specialists in their chosen fields and committed to providing a high-value services,” she said.

Mr Kang has worked for a global software company as part of its executive leadership team and acted as in-house counsel for real estate group Memocorp Australia. From 2010 to 2011 he was engaged as a part-time legal counsel for the launch of fashion brands Christian Louboutin and Diane von Furstenberg into the Australian market.

Mr Kang is a public notary and has over 17 years’ experience providing strategic and legal advice to corporates. He also brings experience as a company secretary.

Nexus founder Marcus McCarthy described the new lawyers as highly experienced and said their in-house backgrounds added to the firm’s wide expertise.

“As our firm paves a positive path in the NewLaw space, it is vital to the success of not only our firm but the NewLaw movement as a whole that we ensure we have a wide range of experience in our lawyers,” Mr McCarthy said.
