A Melbourne insurance practitioner has left a national firm to work as a consultant for one of its rivals.
Former DLA Piper partner Rohan Benett (pictured) has left his job as a consultant for the national firm to join the insurance law and litigation practice of Lander & Rogers. Mr Bennet has over 20 years’ experience representing both Australian and overseas insurers in building- and construction-related professional indemnity claims.
Charles Thornley, building and construction head at Lander & Rogers, said Mr Bennett would boost the firm’s service offering to an area that is experiencing growing demand.
“Rohan is a fantastic senior addition to our firm’s building and construction team. He is well known to brokers and insurers as a specialist in professional indemnity claims against building and construction professionals,” Mr Thornley said.
“In recent times, we have seen a rise in these types of claims in Australia, and insurers are continuing to demand high levels of specialty in this niche area,” he added.
Lander & Rogers is an independent Australian firm with seven broad practice areas covering financial services, insurance, government, infrastructure, real estate, retail and supply chain.
The firm recently lost Melbourne partner Patrick McGrath, who joined rival Sparke Helmore last month.
A number of new financial year promotions were also announced by Lander & Rogers in July, which induced the addition of three lawyers to its partnership team.
