Lawyer leaves global to join specialist firm leadership
The appointment of a “top-tier ECM gun” as a director of Clarendon Lawyers has been announced by the Melbourne firm.

Equity capital markets (ECM) expert Nick Golding (pictured) has joined the directorship of Clarendon Lawyers, leaving the Herbert Smith Freehills office in Melbourne where has worked as a senior associate since 2011.
The new director said his decision to join Clarendon Lawyers was driven by the firm’s “sound business strategy”, culture and people.
“The Clarendon Lawyers model is a significant point of difference for the firm at a time of rapid change in the legal industry, and was a key driver in my decision to join the firm.
“The firm is clear and focused on its business and client proposition, and it provides a distinctive client-lawyer relationship model, which really resonates with me,” Mr Golding said.
Mr Golding’s appointment brings the Clarendon leadership team to seven. The directors include Robert Feiner, Robert Josephs, John Mann, Nick Manuell and Susie Stone, as well as firm founder and managing director Tony Symons.
Mr Symons said the addition of Mr Golding to the directorship came at a time of “unprecedented” growth for the firm.
“Nick’s approach and background is closely aligned with our values, our fastidious approach to client service and our core proposition as a specialist corporate firm focusing on mid-market M&A and ECM transactions,” Mr Symons said.
“We now have an unrivalled depth to our mid-market M&A and ECM teams. Now, more than ever, we are perfectly positioned to assist clients in capitalising on their opportunities at all stages of the investment cycle,” he said.
