Baker & McKenzie Melb head of tech walks
Robert Walker has joined Gadens as a partner in the intellectual property and technology team in Melbourne.

Mr Walker (pictured) has worked at Baker & McKenzie as the head of the technology group in Melbourne for the past 14 years. Before that he worked at Andersen Legal, where he built the firm’s IT practice. He has also acted as legal counsel at McIntosh and IBM.
“His experience will be of great value to our technology sector clients, as well as clients sourcing IT services.”
Mr Walker’s practice focuses on providing IT, telecommunications and intellectual property. He has advised information management system providers on services agreements and Australian companies on high-bandwidth communication infrastructure.
"Gadens has an appealing value proposition for many current and potential users of technology legal services,” said Mr Walker.
“There is a very strong alignment between my vision for the practice and the strategic intent of the firm.”
Gadens has made several prominent lateral partner hires recently, with former K&L Gates partner Adam Howell joining the firm this month, former Corrs Chambers Westgarth partner David Smith moving across in March and Victorian silk Glenn McGowan QC joining as chief counsel in February.
