He specialises in medium-to-large scale property projects in the government sector and has been accredited by the Law Institute of Victoria as a property law specialist.

Mr Dowling's appointment follows the hire of former Sparke Helmore lawyer Liana Westcott, who joined Russell Kennedy as a special counsel in February.

Meanwhile, Maddocks lost two senior partners from its infrastructure practice recently – Greg Campbell and Simela Karasavidis – who were poached by Pinsent Masons to launch the global firm’s Australian practice this May.

Maddocks also gained a partner in March, poaching Greg Hipwell from Norton Rose Fulbright’s commercial practice.
