THE LAW Society of NSW wants you — if you are a professional technical writer willing and able to develop and write the second edition of Working with Barristers — a Solicitor’s Guide to Relations With the Bar, that is.
The objective, according to Gary Ulman, Law Society committee member and a partner at Minter Ellison, is to rewrite the Guide in plain English, taking into account legislative and practical changes that have occurred to the barrister/solicitor relationship.
“It is to be designed to assist both experienced as well as inexperienced practitioners in understanding, in a broad sense, the legal requirements of working with barristers as well as the practical requirements involved in briefing counsel,” he said.
The writer would be asked to propose an efficient and effective structure for the guide, write the content and manage a structured review process of the draft in conjunction with the Law Society’s Litigation and Practice Committee. Proposals must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 28 April. For more details contact Raja Balachandran at the Law Society of NSW.
