Pipers' Brisbane team gets a boost
Piper Alderman has poached three senior lawyers from rival firms as it grows its Brisbane practice.

Esteban Gomez left Clayton Utz to join Piper Alderman as a corporate/M&A partner. He has experience in acquisitions and sales and has advised on corporate governance and ASX listing rule issues across a range of industry sectors.
Pipers has also hired special counsel Jonathan Whybird, who previously worked at McPherson + Kelly, and senior associate Kara Pennisi from Holding Redlich.
Managing partner Tony Britten-Jones commented on the appointments, saying, “We have seen the Brisbane office undergo significant growth and transformation over the past two years. The arrival of Esteban, Jonathan and Kara further strengthens our corporate and property offerings as we continue to deliver commercial outcomes for clients.”
Mr Britten-Jones started his term as Pipers' managing partner in January.
Last year, Pipers lost 11 lawyers along with one of Sydney’s highest earning partners, Amanda Banton, to Squire Patton Boggs.
The former head of the Sydney office, Frazer Hunt, also left the firm in November to join Mills Oakley.
