Legal dignitaries head to Blacktown for fundraiser

Chief Justice of the Federal Court James Allsop (pictured) will attend the Toongabbie Legal Centre (TLC) annual fundraising dinner along with other legal luminaries next week on 28 November.
The event has now been running for seven years and is the main fundraising effort for TLC.
TLC and its sister group, Blacktown Legal Centre (BLC), offer legal advice to socio-economically disadvantaged people who would otherwise not have access to a lawyer.
There are over 100 volunteers working across the centres, which have provided free legal services to the local community since 2007.
Justice Margaret Beazley of the Court of Appeal and patron of the legal centre will preside over the formalities and ABC journalist and broadcaster James Carlton will be the master of ceremonies for the evening.
TLC honorary director and the acting principal solicitor Susai Benjamin said the purpose of the annual dinner was to engage with community organisations, elected representatives, members of the legal profession and TLC supporters.
Benjamin was instrumental in founding the not-for-profit community legal centre.
“The dinner is … an opportunity to focus on our objectives and to further promote our legal services among the community,” said TLC solicitor Dean Bainbridge.

The dinner will be held at Bowman Hall, Blacktown at the cost of $75 a head.
