MINTER Ellison has found a new beginning in Perth after 14 of 19 partners left in August to join the partnership at US firm Squire Sanders. The firm this week opened a new office in the Western Australian capital.

Minters said it has amicably ended its association with the Perth firm that has operated under the Minter Ellison name in WA.

The firm has now secured 2600 sqm over 3 floors at a flagship location in Allendale Square at 77 St Georges Terrace for its new offices.

The new integrated presence in Perth recognises the fundamental importance of the Western Australian marketplace as having both local and international significance, said Andrew Cunningham, Minter Ellison acting chief executive partner.

Minter Ellison Perth's 30 lawyers cover corporate, finance, property, projects and infrastructure and dispute resolution. Their combined expertise is backed by the resources, strength and experience of Minter Ellison’s Australian and international network.

Minter Ellison said it planned to grow quickly in the short term.

'We expect to extend our Perth team to 50 plus lawyers in the near future,' said Cunningham.

He said Perth was an exciting and fast-growing business centre and the establishment of the office reflected the Minter Ellison commitment to its clients and to strategic growth.

"Our Tier One expertise and capabilities in the Perth market will focus on the key industries of Energy & Resources, Property, Projects and Infrastructure, Financial Services, and Government – and thus align with the operations of our existing and potential clients in the State and region," he said.
