Global firm Ince expands in Singapore with new alliance

MARINE firm Ince & Co is to move into the domestic Singaporean market through an alliance with local firm Incisive Law.
The firm, which has offices in Dubai, Hamberg, Hong Kong, Le Havre, Paris, Piraeus, Singapore and Shanghai, said the launch of Ince Law Alliance will be a one-stop-shop for all maritime and offshore firms operating in and around Singapore.
The firm said it would offer both Singaporean and English legal advice and represent clients in both the Singapore Courts and in domestic and international arbitrations.
Ince Singapore managing partner Richard Lovell said: “Through this new alliance with Incisive Law, we are meeting a long-standing need of our clients for English and Singapore law advice and representation under the same roof.”
The alliance will be led by partner Bill Ricquier, who specialises in non-contentious maritime and energy matters, along with partner Mohan Subbaraman. They are joined by Bernard Yee, Carolyn Chia and Tricia Tong.
Ince senior partner James Wilson said the move was a bit to “offer a capability to advise not only on English law, but also on local law in those jurisdictions where this is permitted through alliances or otherwise”.
The firm opened in Singapore in 1992 with a two-man office focusing on shipping work. Its international expansion began in 1979 when it opened its Hong Kong office. The offshore office has since grown to 20 lawyers offering international advice.
