"LAP Dance Lou" has been stripped of his law license.

The New York Post reports that a former Hot Lap Dance Club boss, Louis "Big Daddy Lou" Posner, was officially disbarred for having "knowingly advanced and profited from prostitution" at his infamous - and now shuttered - "Midtown jiggle joint".

The former lawyer managed to wrangle a no-jail deal in his criminal case.

Posner argued, however, that the loss of his practising license was too harsh a penalty, and pleaded for leniency.

But in a unanimous decision, a five-judge panel denied the request, and said that since Posner pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution, a felony, the disbarment was automatic.

The lawyer-cum-pimp-cum-unemployed had at at one point been earning US$22,000 a night with his second pimping job.

During his guilty plea, Posner said he knew some of his lap-dancers were turning tricks in the back rooms of the club, a hot-spot for lawyers, stockbrokers and wealthy businessmen, the New York Post reports.

The former lawyer also admitted "auditioning" new talent, granting himself numerous "comps," and to personally collecting and pocketing some of his "employees'" proceeds.

Posner could have faced up to 15 years in jail on the original money laundering charges against him, but instead wound up being sentenced to five years probation and 60 hours of community service.

He has been barred from setting foot in a strip club again.
