AN Australian law firm is providing a legal link between US citizens working at an Australian-US intelligence group based in Alice Springs, and leading US-based law firms.

Northern Territory law firm Ward Keller Lawyer is now offering cross-border work to US citizens working at the Pine Gap joint Australian-US intelligence.

The bespoke service means Pine Gap workers in Alice Springs will be?able to tend tolegal matters in their US home states through Ward Keller's offices in Alice Springs and Darwin.

Ward Keller partner Leon Loganathan said the service was possible because of the firm's membership of the mid-tier international law firm network, Lawyers Associated Worldwide (LAW).

''We're talking about connecting US citizens in Alice Springs with leading firms suchas Cohen Mohr LLP in Washington DC where highly-respected lawyer William Savarino as LAW deputy chairman is a strong advocate for offering services viathe network to US citizens who are working and living around the world,” he said.

The LAW network, which consists of 100 law firms in 80 capital cities globally, is aimed at reducing stress for clients needing legal advice between jurisdictions.

Ward Keller recently assisted a client purchase a property in Arizona and the transaction was conducted through a member law firm Ridenour, Hienton & Lewis based in Phoenix.

Loganathan said: ''We've even got a strong relationship with Hollywood lawyer Hartford Brown from Klinedinst PC, a Los Angeles firm that specialises in the film industry. Who knows - Harty might one day soon find himself putting together financing deals for local Alice Springs filmmakers or handle a script sale to astudio for a screenwriter who won't even have to leave the NT.''
