AN intellectual property lawyer has been named the top woman lawyer in New South Wales private practice.

Anny Slater, of Slaters Intellectual Property Lawyers, was voted the best lawyer by a panel of high profile judges.

A judging panel, made up of representatives from the Attorney-General’s Department of NSW, the NSW Bar Association, the Law Society of NSW, the Australia Corporate Lawyers Association, the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency and the Women Lawyers Association, awarded Slater the top honour for her excellence in the law and the success of her law firm Slaters Intellectual Property Lawyers.

The firm recently won Best Enterprise at the 2008 Australian Business Awards.

Along with her legal work, Slater is known for her community service and work in the arts.

Slater is managing director of entertainment company Moondance Pictures which has a production deal with Sony Pictures International for mobile content. Her collective film work was recently inducted into the Australian National Collection at the Film and Sound Archive in Canberra.

She is an active mentor in the NSW Law Society’s “shadowing” program for indigenous students,  and Women in Film and TV’s 2009 mentoring program.
