A survey into the career experiences of lesbian, gay and bisexual solicitors has been launched by the UK Law Society.

The results will inform how the Society can help law firms improve the recruitment, retention and career development of these solicitors. Questions in the multiple choice survey ask people to describe their sexual orientation, how far sexual orientation has impacted their choice of firm and area of law, and “are you out at work”.

For those not “out at work”, the survey asks why, offering responses including fear of damage to career prospects or physical harassment, a generally unsupportive atmosphere, and “seen treatment of another out member of staff”.

The survey can be viewed here.
